Senior Manager, Legal

Location: Beverly, MA

Employment: Full Time

Travel: 5%

Job Overview:

We seek a transactional attorney with a commercial mindset. The ideal candidate has 2-5 years of legal experience, which may include law firm, in-house and/or government experience. The candidate should be comfortable drafting and negotiating commercial contracts. Experience, including in legal or non-legal roles, in any of the following areas is a plus:

  • government contracts;
  • public procurement;
  • energy services (power purchase agreements, energy savings contracts, construction, etc.)
  • energy policy;
  • equipment leasing; and
  • legal operations.

The candidate will work in fast-paced startup environment and will be comfortable taking on an array of matters. However, the primary focus in this role will be to collaborate with Highland’s sales team and counterparties to drive the sales process from solicitation response to executed contract.

Responsibilities

  • Support sales team on RFP responses for vehicle electrification-as-a-service;

  • Draft and negotiate transportation equipment services agreements;

  • Draft and negotiate other contracts supporting sales (LOIs, NDAs, teaming arrangements);

  • Manage corporate matters, including entity formation and compliance; and

  • Implement contract lifecycle management software and other legal operations tools.

  • Establish scalable contracting strategies and tools in coordination with sales team;

  • Support on financing and M&A matters;

  • Draft and negotiate software license, equipment supply, and construction agreements; and

  • Support market development efforts, including reviewing proposed state legislation, grant applications, and incentive program policy matters.

Skills

  • 2-5 years as practicing attorney

  • Live within driving distance of Beverly, MA headquarters

  • Flexible in-office schedule possible

  • Remote work may be considered for highly-qualified non-local candidates

  • Admitted in Massachusetts or eligible for in-house counsel registration

  • Eligible to work in the United States (visa support not provided)
